1967 Ford Mustang

1967 Mustang Coupe

Description

1967 was the first restyling of the Mustang. It gained length, height, and width, but was still available in the same three body styles, the coupe, the convertible, and the fastback.

The concave rear end and new tail lights, and a new, longer fastback roof line were the most obvious changes.

The grill was also changed, and the engine compartment was enlarged to accept the big block 390 engine (rated at 320 hp) which was now the top engine in regular Mustangs. A 428 cubic inch engine was available in the Shelby Mustang.

The GT/A model was a GT with an automatic transmission, and 1967 was the only year for it.

1967 Shelby Mustang

The GT-350 Shelby Mustang was joined by a new GT-500 model powered by a 428 ci in V-8 rated at 355 hp and 420 ft-lbs of torque. Overall though, the Shelbys were now more street cars and less race cars.

They had a special fiberglass hood and front fenders, and a fiberglass trunk with a built-in spoiler. They also had an extra set of headlights (driving lights) mounted in the grill. The GT-500 came with an interior rollbar.

1967 Mustang Key Differences

For 1967 only, the rear fender side scoops had two openings with a body-colored grill. The chrome horizontal bars were added back to the grill, and the tail lights and rear panel were now concave.
